COMPUTER BASED PROGRAMS
Demonstrations of computer software, including multimedia, designed and used by the presenter(s) for any of the following purposes: research data analysis; individual patient records; management (eg billing, scheduling, generating reports); controlling therapeutic equipment; instructing patients or staff. Programs must be original designs, not simply modifications of programs developed by others. The presenter must have been a significant contributor in the development of the program. It is expected that these items would be in a research and development phase and must NOT currently be for sale commercially by the presenter(s) or other vendor(s).
IBM compatible personal computers with CD ROM, Windows XP® and Microsoft Office ® will be made available for accepted programmes. The presenter will be responsible for providing and installing any additional software and peripheral equipment necessary to the presentation. Visual display will be limited to the computer monitor.
MATERIALS DISPLAY
A special area will be provided to allow presenters to display equipment, devices and graphic or printed matter that is more easily understood by seeing the materials themselves than by hearing them described. All materials presented must have been designed by the presenter(s) and must NOT currently be for sale commercially by the presenter(s) or other vendor(s).
The following types of materials may be displayed:
Small items of equipment such as therapeutic equipment, supportive and adaptive devices and clinical measurement devices.
Models, graphic material and booklets used for patient instruction.
Special forms for recording patient information or management data.
A sample of the materials presented should fit in an area no larger than 1 metre x 2 metres (39 x 78 inches). If appropriate, the display may include photographs showing the material in use.
AUDIO-VISUAL PRESENTATIONS
Opportunities will be available during the Conference for delegates to reserve and view audio-visual programmes designed and produced by the presenter(s). The variety of possible formats includes: videotapes, motion pictures, synchronised slide-sound programmes and sets of slides or transparencies with accompanying instructions for their use.
The programmes should be original designs and may NOT be commercial products. The author of the abstract must have been a significant contributor to the development of the programme.
For practical reasons, the programmes must be displayed on standard equipment. When this is not possible or is burdensome, one of the other options, such as a poster presentation, should be considered.
The scheduled demonstration sessions with the presenter(s) will be limited to 15 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for interaction with the audience.
Two categories of materials will be accepted:
Instructional materials for teaching patients and families or clinical or support staff.
Public relations materials for promoting public awareness and understanding of physical therapy or for informing other health professionals about physical therapy services.
